Chimera

The Chimera is a synthesis of the best materials and drive units ever seen in any dynamic loudspeaker system. The product of years of innovation and driven design, its success is founded upon the single minded pursuit of excellence in audio reproduction and discerning aesthetics.

Be prepared to ask yourself... Why hasn't anyone done that before?

Carbon fibre and the name Wilson Benesch are synonymous. In the Odyssey series we have allied the merits of this material to those of aluminium alloy to bring you a structural performance that is simply beyond that of any other loudspeaker at any price.

The Formula One racing car is built from the same materials, ask yourself... When did I last see an M.D.F. Formula One racing car?

To match the performance of the enclosure, Wilson Benesch invested its own and European funding in excess of £250,000 in the development of a completely new multi-role, dynamic driver technology.
Wilson Benesch is the only Uk company to have won SMART funding for the development of a completely new driver technology.

An integrated sound field is axiomatic with the Tactic® multi-role drive unit. One type of driver = one type of sound. Simple but very effective.

Benefitis of the Isobaric Tactic® - See adjacent diagram

1. Matchless accuracy.
2. The most powerful low frequency composite system in the world.
3. Near pistonic function of the diaphragm that avoids the break-up problems commonly accepted in conventional systems.
4. Third order non-linearities virtually cancelled out.
5. The solid colour in the adjacent diagram describes the effective cone thickness below 200Hz. In the range of its operation, the diaphragm can be seen to have the highest stiffness-to-weight ratio in the world.
6. The solid colour describes the solid defence against the passage of out-of-phase energy that must be confined within the enclosure.
7. The next time you see a large diaphragm, consider how easy it is for the energy inside the enclosure to pass through this relatively thin membrane!
